Ms. Bittel is a graduate of Bucknell University and the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. She began her law career in 1986 with a small general practice law firm in Alexandria, Virginia, and in 1989, she elected to focus her law practice exclusively on family law and appellate matters. Ms. Bittel has had an “AV” rating from Martindale Hubbell since 1998, and she has been listed for many years in the Washingtonian, Super Lawyers and Northern Virginia Magazine “Top Lawyer” publications as well as in Best Lawyers of America and their related publications in the field of family law.
Ms. Bittel was selected to serve as a Commissioner in Chancery (1993), a Neutral Case Evaluator (1995), and a Divorce Case Conciliator (1996) in the Circuit Court of Fairfax County in addition to numerous appointments by the Judges of that Court as a Special Commissioner in Chancery and as a Guardian _ad litem _for minor children; she is a former faculty member of the Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Course of the Virginia State Bar; she served for twelve years on the 5th District Grievance Committee of the Virginia State Bar; and she was a member of the Virginia Bar Association Coalition Committee on Family Law Legislation for many years during which time she worked on legislative study committees and co-authored family law legislation on various issues. Ms. Bittel has also lectured on issues relating to family law and legal ethics throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia for more than thirty years.
